Why Zephyr? Lots of experience on both sides of the counter. We’ve been baristas, roasters, managers, importers, traders. We are active members of the Roasters’ Guild and the SCAA. We travel. We know the producers, mills, exporters. Lots of you know us. You know that we are happy to share what we know about coffees, about origins, about roast profiles, about blends, about equipment.
Why warehouse in Kansas City? About 300 miles east of the geographic center of the US, Kansas City, Missouri is a great central location for shipping throughout the US and Canada. For most destinations, LTL (less-than-truckload) freight rates are cheaper than shipping from the west coast, and transit times are shorter as well. With the amount of product entering the US on the west coast, carriers have little incentive to offer good rates heading east. Once you hit the middle of the country, though, there are lots of trucks looking for cargo. Also, by importing most of our coffee through Houston and eastern ports, we are able to avoid the additional cost and congestion associated with west coast ports such as Oakland and Long Beach. Kansas City is also home to underground caverns; these are perfect for coffee storage. Paris Brothers, Inc. has climate-controlled warehouse space and docks. Temperature, humidity and cleanliness are constant during transfer from warehouse to truck.

How We Sell: We ship freight-collect, meaning freight charges are paid by our customers (we cover the warehouse charges). Our warehouses - (Paris Brothers, Inc. in Kansas City MO & The Green Room in Auburn WA) use clean pallets, cardboard slips, banding and plastic wrap on all shipments unless otherwise requested. We worked hard to get the best possible LTL and contract discounts from a variety of freight carriers. Want the whole box of coffee? Not a problem - we can sell FOB, C&F, CIF, ex-dock, or delivered. We can also arrange LCL and full-container shipments overseas.
We sell both SPOT and FUTURE coffees.
